The 19th Day of 2015, 1/19/2015, was the observance of Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday. And so many people were involved in Days of Service, it made my heart swell with pride. From my Church FB friends, to my student FB friends, to my childhood FB friends, and the list goes on and on. And SERVICE is how we stay connected to society and people who are less fortunate than we are. And this is a really important connection, a connection I hope and pray that the leaders of this country heed as the partisanship politics has already started in advance of the State of the Union. And as I ignore the hate and vitriol I see on some others' FB pages, I will focus more on Dr. King's quote above. And I will continue to do my best to do for others in honor of people like MLK, Jr. and others who have sacrificed so much (including the ultimate sacrifice) for the promotion of equity, tolerance, and love.
