Orchestral Connections
The evening of day #318 (11/14/15) was spent with Sarah at the Kimmel Center. She joined the Young Friends of the Phila. Orchestra and we got a good deal on tickets. The performance was amazing, and they played my favorite composition, Sibelius' Finlandia. It is amazing how hearing this piece can connect me back to my time in H.S. Orchestra and when we played it. When Carol Jantsch (the tubist of the Phila. Orch) played the solo, I remembered playing my solo. Music truly can connect one to memories. But the most poignant moment was when the Orchestra opened the whole evening with the French National Anthem. Again, with just music, we were all connected together in support of the victims of yesterday's attacks. Music is so important....and it connects.
