Connected to Current Events

It is interesting, being the parent of an 11 year old and a thirteen year old.  Today, 6/2/15, on the 153rd day of 2015, we spend the evening discussing, as a family, a debate topic for Alexa's Current Events Essay assignment.  We discussed politics, gay marriage, abortion rights, the death penalty, and much, much more.  Heavy topics for the kids, but they had some really interesting things to say. And I am glad to know they are aware and connected to the issues of the day....and it was neat speaking with them and connecting with them as well....now I do not agree with all of their opinions, but talking is good...
